Sale of Opal Healthcare’s homecare division

Canterbury Partners is delighted to have advised Opal Healthcare (‘Opal’) on the successful divestment of its homecare division (‘BlueCross HomeCare’) to Lumia Care (owned by Pemba Capital Partners)

Opal is Australia’s largest provider of residential aged care services, operating over 140 residential aged care communities throughout the country. Opal entered the homecare market through the acquisition of BlueCross Aged Care in 2024 and subsequently elected to carve out BlueCross HomeCare and offer it for sale.

Post transaction, BlueCross Homecare will become part of the Lumia Care network strengthening its ability to provide exceptional home care services across Victoria. The transaction provides Opal with a strong return for its homecare division along with the ability to focus solely on its core residential aged care offering, while providing BlueCross HomeCare clients and carers with a new owner committed to the provision of high quality care and nursing services across a range of aged care, disability, hospital in the home, and nurse placement environments.
